Yield of a solar power plant is defined as the output energy per KW of solar panels . That is the number of units of energy a solar power plant produces per KW (Kilo-watt) of solar panels installed. A well designed and well installed system will have a higher yield. Mid-March to Mid-April is the time when we get maximum insolation (Sunlight) for a region like Bangalore and we can expect maximum yield during this season. Apart from quality of panels and inverter, a number of other factors like Cable sizing, Cable routing, Proper ventilation to the inverters , orientation and tilt of the panels , access to panel cleaning , heat dissipation in the distribution boxes, rigid crimping etc play a vital role in determining the yield of the plant. A good yield as per the Industry standards during this season is between 5.0 to 5.5 units per KW per day. However , we have achieved over 6 Units per KW per day many times at many sites during the month of march 2020. Here is one of our sites in Bangalore where we have installed a 3.75 KWp solar rooftop system and in the month of march, we crossed the 6 units mark 8 times . Thanks to top quality panels , inverters and premium installation quality we are were able to achieve yields higher than best industry standards . We hope we will learn more and improve our standards, processes and quality and be able to achieve higher yields thus contributing to a clean country.
