Difference between a dark surface and a light surface.
Dark surfaces typically roofs absorb a lot of heat and light during the day which results in temperature build up inside the building.
On the other hand a white coated roof (Reflective paint) has higher thermal emittance and solar reflectance thereby keeping the roof and building relatively cool.
